Embracing the Holiday Season
Do you find it hard to experience joy at this time of year? Do you dread the holidays? If so, you’re not alone. Many of us feel overwhelmed by the pressure to be happy. We may wish for less stress and more peace during this season.
For some, finding joy during the holidays can be a challenge. The stress of buying gifts can weigh heavily on our hearts. We may feel pressured to find the perfect gift 🎁. Perhaps you miss a loved one who made this time of year special. Or maybe family arguments have left a bitter taste in your mouth. Whatever the reason, it can be tough to navigate these emotions.
Discovering Personal Joy
In my own journey, I’ve learned to focus on the things that bring me joy. I’ve discovered that even small moments can spark happiness. For instance, I enjoy filling a small pillowcase with little odds and ends. These are fun, silly items that bring smiles to my family’s faces.
Of course, I feel pressure during this time. I set a budget and stick to it. I choose gifts that I believe each person will enjoy. Sometimes, I give similar gifts, like face masks or foot soaks.
I used to struggle with anxiety, especially when money was tight. But I’ve learned to focus on what truly matters: being together. Sharing a meal with loved ones brings me immense joy.
Cherished Memories
For me, a 🥭 mango on Christmas morning connects me to my late father. It was our special tradition. He loved mangoes, and sharing one with him was a cherished moment. It symbolized his transition from work to family time.
As I eat my mango, I reflect on those joyful memories. There was a time when this ritual brought tears. Grieving my father was a long process. But one Christmas morning, something changed. I ate my mango without tears. Instead, I felt joy. I realized my dad would want me to embrace happiness and create joyful moments for my family.
Creating New Traditions
This year, I encourage you to find your joy. What brings happiness to you and your loved ones? Whether it’s family or friends, think back to what made you joyful as a child. Even if it hurts, start healing by doing one small act of joy. This can lift your spirits.
If you know someone who is alone, invite them to share in your joy. Create a memory together that can be cherished.
The Journey of Transformation
I learned to find joy through life coaching, hypnotherapy, and NLP. These tools helped me transform sadness into joy. It’s a journey of small steps, and I’m still on it. I’m always seeking joy because joy is easier to attain than happiness. Happiness often stems from joy.
